A Cook's Tour: In Search of the Perfect Meal
Anthony Bourdain sets off in search of the perfect meal, a quest that takes him from the streets and kitchens of Vietnam to Japan, Cambodia, Portugal, Mexico and beyond.
Along the way, he eats with cooks, families and strangers, ventures into unfamiliar culinary territory and discovers that the most memorable meals rarely have much to do with luxury. Food opens doors into local customs, history, poverty, hospitality and the everyday lives of people whose worlds are very different from his own.
Bourdain's irreverence, curiosity and willingness to embrace discomfort make this more than a gastronomic adventure. He travels to eat, but what stays with him is often everything surrounding the meal: the people, the conversations, the places and the unexpected generosity of strangers.
